The massive earthquake which hit east Japan caused enormous damage to Tohoku area including our adjacent prefecture Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures.

The southern coast areas of Aomori Prefecture including Hachinohe City, houses and fishing facilities were damaged. Fortunately the Sea of Japan side such as Aomori-City and Hirosaki-City didn't suffer any long-lasting damage, and tourist facilities and accommodations have been operating as usual. Cherry Blossom Festival in Hirosaki-City starting from April 23 is to be held as scheduled and is planning to invite 100 people from the devastated area. Everyone in Tohoku and Japan is working together to recover and revitalize as soon as possible.

We would be so happy if you would visit Japan and support us.
Aomori Prefecture is ready to welcome you.
