Trekking at World Heritage Site Shirakami Sanchi and Juniko lakes are great. Enjoy the beech tress and wild birds up close while breathing in the clean, fresh air. Don't miss Aoike when trekking through the 12 lakes of Juniko. The mysterious beauty of the deep blue lake surface will draw your heart. Then there are Iwaki and Hakkoda mountains. They are the two mountains symbolic of Aomori and home to its residents. There are 3 trekking courses through the Hakkoda mountains, one 4-hour course that goes to the main peak, Odake, the Kenashi Paradise Line is an easy trail for beginners, and the Hakkoda Gourd Line is recommended for those wishing to see alpine plants. Select the course that suits your experience and equipment.

Jyuniko Trekking

The "Anmon-no-taki waterfall (approx. 2 hrs.) course" is a stroll through a mystical forest with old beech trees and along the river and the "Beech Forest Stroll Course (approx. 1 hr.)" is a walk through a Beech forest, and the "Nature Watch Path Course (approx. 4 hrs.)" takes you to a spot with a panoramic view of the grand Shirakami Sanchi.

   

Hakkoda Walk
The Hakkoda Walk is an 8.1 km snow corridor that awakens Hakkoda from its winter sleep. This is a special 3-day event before the opening of National Route 103, the "Hakkoda-Towada Gold Line" that is closed each winter season. See the corridor with its snow walls that stand as high as 9 meters tall.
