Goshogawara Tachi-Neputa
Gigantic 22 meter tall Tachi-Neputa floats parade the town. Held from Aug 4th to 8th.
Goshogawara Tachi-Neputa, one of three major Aomori Nebuta floats attains
the height of more than 20 meters, is said to be originated around 1907.
In the past, making gigantic Neputa floats was once abolished because they
had to be downsized to avoid the street power cables, and besides, the
pictures and blueprints of Neputa were destroyed in the big fire. After 80 years’ absence, the giant Neputa float was revived as “Tachi-Neputa” in 1998.
The parade of towering giants, the floats of the Tachi-Neputa festival
dominating the skyline along with the cheer “Yattemare-yattemare” definitely
overwhelm onlookers.
The festival is held from August 4th to 8th every summer.
