Message from the Blue Forest
Jusanko is the third largest lake in Aomori, extending 7 km from north to south and 5 km from east to west, with a circumference of 31.4 km. It is called the Jusanko ("13 lake") because 13 streams flow into the lake. The water is brackish with a mixture of sea and fresh water, where pale blue grasses grow. There are many birds inhabiting the area, including the phantom bird, Japanese swamp warbler and the protected Steller's sea eagle, offering a great spot for bird watchers.
Take the Konan Bus Kodomari Line (via Jusan) from Goshogawara Station and get off at Jusanko.
